14 September 2024  Webinar |  The IEA: Where We've Been, Where We're Going

  Register Now!

We warmly invite you to join us on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 11AM PT for a special webinar: “The IEA: Where We’ve Been, Where We’re Going.”

Our presenter, Rhonda Kronyk, will take us on a journey through the history of the IEA, beginning with the incredible work of Greg Younging with Theytus Books, the Canadian publishing industry, and the United Nations . You'll learn about Joanne Gerber and her pivotal role in bringing Indigenous writers together for the first Aboriginal Editors Circles, which later led to the founding of the IEA. You'll get an inside look at how our organization has evolved—from a small group of passionate individuals to a thriving community of almost a hundred members.

Rhonda will also share the exciting projects we're currently working on and give you a sneak peek into what's ahead as we continue to grow our membership and programming.

After the webinar, Indigenous creatives are invited to join us for a Kitchen Table Talk facilitated by IEA member Jónina Kirton. It's a chance to connect, share ideas, and be part of the conversation. This KTT is a special event where you’ll learn about our plans for an Indigenous Editors Circle in May 2025 and help us shape the curriculum.

Tickets are available at Eventbrite. Free registration opens for Indigenous IEA members on August 22. Non-Indigenous IEA members, SFU publishing students, and IVAs applicants can register on  August 28, and registration for the general public opens on September 4. Tickets for the general public are $25.

We hope you can make it!
